This may not work out international, but for US sites it would be helpful.
From Wikipedia..
In the United States of America, a county is a geographic subdivision of a state (or federal territory), usually assigned some governmental authority. The term "county" is used in 48 of the 50 states; Louisiana is divided into parishes and Alaska into boroughs.[1] Parishes and boroughs are called "county-equivalents" by the U.S. federal government, as are certain independent cities which are not parts of counties. There are 3,033 organized counties and 3,140 county-equivalent governments in the United States according to 2007 Census of Governments.[2]

I'm cool with that addition - simple and definitely works well for US states which are organized by county. Its hard to create easy to use tags that work globally (I have yet to understand the complicated naming system used by google maps for instance).
My only concern is how close geoCounty is to geoCountry, but those the right terms.
Any further comments?

I'm on board with this too

We could use the geoCountyEquiv? To make it not as similar to country and make it clear to the oddballs (alaska and new orleans, and rest of world), that this can be used for an area larger than a city, but smaller than a state.

I think sticking with good name geoCounty and letting it be used for Parish in LA is best design myself

geoCounty = "County Name"
Usage: geoState = "WV" geoCounty = "Jefferson"
