In Haystack four types of objects are defined: point, equipment, site, and weather. A point always belongs to an equipment and a site. For me, another type of entity zone is desirable in following cases:
In buildings, some points (typically room temperature) don't belong to any equipment. They belong to a specific zone, e.g. room 101 or west wing 1st floor. These points need a zoneRef tag which indicates the zone they belong to.
Very often it is useful to group room devices based on their location, e.g. all VAV boxes on the 1st Floor. These room devices need a zoneRef tag which indicates their location-based group.
Has anyone made thoughts on this? Thanks in advance!

That is not currently standardized, but is something we hope to standardize either via BIM WG 530 or it keeps coming up with WG 551
