Forgive me if this has already been discussed and dismissed, but I believe we should be simplifying a few equipment categories to make the modeling and tagging processes simpler.
If we currently consider "rooftop" and "pau" as different types of "ahu", then perhaps we should also consider a similar data model for the following equip categories: "vav", "elecMeter", "gasMeter", "waterMeter", "steamMeter"
The only type of terminal equipment currently defined is "vav" (variable air volume). I believe "vav" should be an identifying tag for the type of "tu" (terminal unit). Other types of terminal equipment with shared points would be "fcu" (fan coil unit), "cav" (constant air volume), "vrf" (variable refrigerant flow), and perhaps even some of the different fan-powered vav configurations like "vavSeries" or "vavParallel".
Similarly, "meter" seems to be a simple equipment category, while "elec", "gas", "water", and "steam" are merely identifying tags to distinguish the type.
What do you think?

Chris... We started this topic for VAVs.

Also, ElecMeter is defined here http://project-haystack.org/tag/elecMeter
Chris... Let me know what you think about the VAVs, and if it makes sense. We want to get this nailed down soon, so we can add it to the docs

Although at various times we discussed using elec meter vs elecMeter, I think we made the right decision because then things jive nicely with tags like elecMeterLoad.
I definitely agree that we can probably use the existing VAV work to flush out rest of terminal units. Its just that nothing has been done on that front.
