#1007 TAG PROPOSAL | elec | heatPump | volt

Matt Steen Thu 1 Sep

The Haystack Labs WG has developed the following improved tag definitions for the community to comment on before they're added to Project Haystack.

elec

Existing

Associated with electricity, electric charge

Proposed

Pertaining to or associated with electricity or with electrical force, power, or energy.

heatPump

Existing

Heat pump: An air handling equipment which employs a vapor compression cycle with a reversing valve to provide heating or cooling to a space. See AHUs chapter.

Proposed

Equipment that employs a vapor compression cycle with a reversing valve to provide heating or cooling. For vapor compression heating without a reversing valve, such as for a heat pump water heater, see dxHeating which should be used.

Notes

  1. ASHRAE Terminology
  2. Brick Heat Pump / Chiller (see gist link near bottom)
  3. Make heatPump an "adjective" marker tag.
  4. Create new heatPump-equip which subtypes from equip (for now).

volt

Existing

Electrical voltage, potential difference

Proposed

Electrical potential difference or electromotive force.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the proposal.

Have you checked in with the VRF Working Group? I know they wanted to redefine the heatPump tag.

If you're on the same page then that's great!!

If not, perhaps you could reach out to them.

Cheers, Richard

Yes, this new language for a more generic definition is specifically from the VRF discussions
